Hej!
My name is Katharina Preissler and I started Jernberghets fönsterhantverk in summer 2023.
In spring 2023 I took the step to fully learn the craft from the pros at Scandinavian WindowCraft in Gölingstorp, Sweden and I aim to renovate as many old windows as possible.
About 10 years ago I started to learn about traditional swedish craftmanship through the family's summerhouse in Värmland. It gave me the possibility to try and learn different techniques in carpentry and painting with traditional types of paint like linseed oil paint. Since I love this kind of work and it never becomes boring I decided to leave my old job at a german university and move to Sweden and dedicate myself to the craft.
The company's name refers to one of the first mentions of the area I live and work in. "Jernberghet i Wærmelande" - the iron mountain of Värmland. In the year 1413 the miners in the area around Filipstad got granted their privileges by the swedish king Eric of Pomerania.
